Wow! This was a trip for baseball fans - ballparks in 8 days on the East Coast this summer! I've always loved baseball and played since some form of the game since I was little. When we had a son, we knew hitting every major league baseball park was going to be a goal! A few years ago, we headed from Colorado to California for spring break and caught games at Dodger Stadium, watched the Padres, and closed out with the Diamondbacks. But this summer - we hit the East Coast for a mega trip, sprinkled in with a little tourism!
Day 1-3:/Game 1: Washington DC for the Nationals - loved the historical sites and watching the Presidents race around the ballpark. My sister lives here so we stayed for a couple days to explore the area.
Day 4/Game 2: Baltimore Orioles - Camden Yards is an awesome stadium with so much character. A 3-hour rain delay couldn't keep us away!
Day 5/Game 3: Phillies! After enjoying a cheesesteak (with or without the Whiz?!), we headed over to the Phillies ballpark for a great day game!
Day 6/Game 4: New York! My son has wanted to go to New York since watching Home Alone 2 and was so excited to see the tall buildings! We went to the Yankees game on our first day and then explored Times Square and had amazing food!
Day 7/Game 5: We decided to head to Coney Island and explore the beach and eat some Nathan's Hot Dogs (not gonna lie - amazing!). Once we rode some rides and soaked our feet in the ocean, we headed back for the Mets game!
Day 8/Game 6: Boston and the gorgeous and historic Fenway Park. We have been here before but it's still amazing and we love it. The seats might be wooden and uncomfortable, but the atmosphere and history is worth it!
And then we started our 36-hour journey home with flight delays, re-routing and extra hotel nights...but that's for another day!
